Beavercreek, Ohio – Dennis Andersh, president, and CEO of Parallax Advanced Research has announced that Parallax has become a member of the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). AUVSI is the world's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of uncrewed systems, drones, and robotics. AUVSI represents corporations and professionals from more than 60 countries involved in industry, government, and academia. Its members work in the defense, civil, and commercial markets.

“Parallax Advanced Research has been involved in the technological development of uncrewed vehicles and their control systems since our organization was founded,” said Andersh. “The terminology around uncrewed vehicles and systems has evolved, and today we refer to our work in this area as ‘Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).’”

According to Andersh, Parallax has aligned its AAM capabilities with multiple federal and state agency efforts, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Department of the Air Force, and the State of Ohio Department of Transportation’s DriveOhio initiative; the latter is helping develop a framework of support, guidance, and regulations for the growth of AAM in the state.

Parallax also manages the Ohio Federal Research Network (OFRN) program. OFRN provides direct funding to Ohio-wide small businesses and academic teams that are innovating technology which integrates unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and AAM operations into the U.S. National Airspace System.

“As a member of AUVSI, we will gain greater access to the world's largest uncrewed systems community,” said Bob Tanner, executive director of Parallax’s Aerospace Partnerships. “I was fortunate enough to participate in a panel in October 2023, at AUVSI’s North Carolina Advanced Mobility Symposium. The Symposium offers a platform for stakeholders to identify opportunities, tackle challenges, exhibit groundbreaking innovations, and influence policy. The event also offered me and other attendees and panelists the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with leaders from industry, academia, and government to help accelerate AAM.”

In fact, one of Parallax’s core functions is to facilitate technological advances in AAM among the same three sectors: industry, academia, and government.

“We are excited about the possibilities afforded to us through our new AUVSI membership,” said Andersh. “Parallax supports the dynamically emerging AAM industry by providing its expertise in AAM command and control, mobile systems, training, simulation, low-altitude systems integration, research and development, and consulting. Our AUVSI membership expands our access to industry leaders and will help Parallax to grow our organization and our expertise.”
