BG Samuel “Luke” Peterson honorably retired from the U.S. Army on 01 October 2024 aCer nearly 35 years of distinguished service. BG(Ret) Peterson originally enlisted in the Army in 1987 as an Infantryman and was later awarded an ROTC Green-to-Gold scholarship. He graduated from the University of Tampa as a Distinguished Military Graduate in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and was commissioned as an Armor officer. He is currently the President of Alpha2Omega (A2O) Consulting Solutions, LLC.

Throughout his Army career, BG(Ret) Peterson served in a variety of operational and command & staff positions in the United States, Germany, Kuwait, Bosnia and Afghanistan. Within the Pentagon he served on the staff for the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics & Technology, directly advising the Army Acquisition Executive on the execution of all Army programs. As a certified DoD and Army Acquisition professional, Luke led the research and development, production and delivery on a myriad of programs ranging from advanced networking capabilities, to managing the Army’s entire tactical wheeled vehicle and watercraft fleet, to developing critical acquisition strategies for strategic capabilities such as hypersonics and directed energy efforts.

In his final Army assignment, BG(Ret) Peterson served as the Program Executive Officer (PEO) for Combat Support & Combat Service Support. In this role he provided executive leadership for the development, systems integration, acquisition, testing, fielding, sustainment, and modernization of approximately 250 diverse acquisition programs across the Army's Transportation, Quartermaster, Ordnance, and Engineer portfolios. He led a team of 1,100 acquisition professionals across all functional disciplines in 4 different states, that fields over 22,000 pieces of equipment a year, while executing a budget of ~$8.2B across three annual budget cycles.

His advanced degrees include a master’s degree in Systems Acquisitions Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA; and a master’s degree in National Resource Strategy from the Senior Service College at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, Washington, D.C.

BG(Ret) Peterson’s military decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with one oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Staff Badge, Ranger Tab, and Parachute Badge. He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Airborne School, Ranger School, Scout Platoon Leader’s Course, and Command and General Staff College. He is Level III certified in Program Management.
