OAI presents an SAE Webinar - Digitization of Aerospace Standards
Agenda
The aerospace sector is fast transitioning from the analog world to the digital. Because this sector is heavily regulated, the pace is necessarily slower. However, progress is being made in many areas of the industry, and with it the standards landscape to support this progress. For example;
• Four SAE technical committees have been established in the last three years to develop standards related to digital processes in the operational sector of aviation; G-34 (for developing standards for artificial intelligence), G-31 (for electronic transactions), G-32 (for cyber security), and G-35 (for modeling and simulation in support of training and certification of aircraft and personnel). https://standardsworks.sae.org/standards-committees/aerospace-general-projects-systems-group
• The ATA e-Business Program, an international group of airlines, manufacturers, software providers and other organizations have been continuing to develop a number of standards promoting digital data exchange in the product support and maintenance areas of commercial aviation. https://www.ataebiz.org/
• IATA has formed an initiative called Digital Aircraft Operations focused on digitalization to improve airline operations with focus on regulatory acceptance of digital documentation, digitalization of Tech Ops, MRO activities, Aircraft Leasing and Decommissioning. https://www.iata.org/en/programs/ops-infra/digital-aircraft-operations/
• The industry has made progress incorporating Industry 4.0 principles into its manufacturing areas.
• Key players in the aviation sector have come together to establish a non-profit consortium – the Independent Data Consortium for Aviation – to develop consensus governance standards for data sharing among all key stakeholders.
Join expert panelists for a discussion of current trends, future pathways and the challenges to the wider adoption of digital processes in the aviation industry.
